How to Stay Healthy During the Holidays

How to Stay Healthy During the Holidays

The holidays can be a stressful time when you’re trying to live a healthy lifestyle and reach your goals. Treats are everywhere, we seem to have less time for ourselves, and our health and fitness priorities are often placed on the backburner.

We’ve got some simple tips to help you stay on track this holiday season so you can look and feel your best!

EAT YOUR VEGGIES FIRST

I get it. When Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner rolls around, it can be easy to ditch the veggies to make room for more appetizing foods on your plate. But it’s important to make sure you eat your veggies so you can get the nutrition body needs to stay healthy. There’s a reason why flu season is during the holiday months, and poor nutrition is a huge part of it.

A little hack is to eat your veggies first. You’ll be less hungry and less likely to overindulge but you’ll still be able to enjoy other foods and treats too.

STAY HYDRATED

The holiday season can be very busy. Seems like there’s always a party to be at, shopping to do, or gifts to wrap. Make sure you stay on top of your hydration so you can feel your best and avoid too much snacking. Also, keep in mind that alcohol can make you extra dehydrated, so try not to overdo the booze during the holidays.

If you need help with your hydration, stock up on your favorite flavors of HEART + HYDRATION so you’ll always be prepared with a delicious hydrating drink.

KEEP HUNGER IN CHECK

Keeping your hunger in check can help you prevent overeating or snacking so you can keep up on your progress. After all, the last thing you want to do is backtrack on any weight loss you’ve worked so hard for.

Bring healthy snacks with you when you’re out and about, drink plenty of water, and don’t forget your truCONTROL! When you do eat your meals, think of filling up on fiber (like veggies and whole grains) and protein first.

TAKE A WALK

Nutrition isn’t the only thing to be ignored during the holidays. I’m sure most of us have put off exercise because we don’t have the time or just don’t feel like it.

Exercise is always important, but it can be extra helpful during the holidays. Daily exercise can help boost your energy so you can accomplish your holiday to-do list. It doesn’t have to be long or intense, something as simple as a 30 minute is still effective.

TAKE TIME TO RELAX

Sometimes we can get so caught up in all the chaos around the holidays that we forget why we are even celebrating in the first place.

Take time to relax and be with your loved ones. Fit some yoga or meditation in your day if you are feeling the pressure of the holidays. Remember what you’re grateful for and you’ll have the best holiday season yet!
